I had the same thing happen to me at my last visit to the Endo - my prior A1c was 6.1, the new lab test A1c came back 7.4, so the Dr. re-did the test in the office, and my A1c was only 6.2 - he said there was no way it could have changed that much in only 10 days since the labs, so the lab work had to have been done wrong. Remember, everyone makes mistakes! If you ever get a really big swing, and your daily logs of BG testing does not indicate any significant problems, then it might be worth it to have the test repeated to confirm or refute the findings.
