Full Version: Better A1C reading

Just saw the results of my last blood work and my A1C is back down to 6.5. The last one was 8.3 which just didn't seem right to me because I was getting decent readings at home. I think it was a lab error then but whatever it was at least it is back where it should be. I had been thinking of upping my Byetta to 10 mcg but won't now and will stick with the 5 as long as it is doing some good.

Sue,

I had the same thing happen to me at my last visit to the Endo - my prior A1c was 6.1, the new lab test A1c came back 7.4, so the Dr. re-did the test in the office, and my A1c was only 6.2 - he said there was no way it could have changed that much in only 10 days since the labs, so the lab work had to have been done wrong. Remember, everyone makes mistakes! If you ever get a really big swing, and your daily logs of BG testing does not indicate any significant problems, then it might be worth it to have the test repeated to confirm or refute the findings.

Good luck,

Whatever the reason, Sue, I'm so glad for you! :)
