Today I got another big shot of cortisone in one of my knees for the arthritis. Knee replacement is approaching faster than desired!
Since I know steroids can cause a major rise in BG readings I am following Dr. Bill's past advice:
1) Take lots of BG readings (before, after & between meals)
2) Drink lots of water
3) Be prepared to call my Endo Dr. if my BG readings go over 300
Hopefully the cortisone will not make my BG too crazy, and it will re-stabilize in a couple of days.
Oh what fun we have balancing diabetes and other medical issues! :S

Geri,
Both my Ortho Dr. and I agree with your recommendation. This is probably the last shot (pun intended!) before replacing the knee, and probably both knees! I fought the good fight for more than 20 years after the first knee surgery that was necessary due to arthritis, but knee replacement time has come. Everyone I have talked to says that having the replacement done is the best thing they did and almost everyone has said they wished they would have done it sooner.
Oh well, 2 knees or not 2 knees, that is the question....and a steady stream of cortisone shots is definitely NOT the answer!
